Dear God, Why Me?

Musical rendition of the poem - Why Me?

Created from my poetry using suno.com. Music is powerful. I’ve left it alone for a long time, largely because of HIM, but I’m thankful for technological advances that help put my words to music.

God, why did You choose me for this fight,
To be their confidant,
The Truth-Teller
Reverse: wrongs to right?

I adopt this assignment,
I own my failures,
I rise to protect
The silenced survivors

I am not alone,
You are with us,
But so are they.
The Advocates

Together we stand,
No matter the length of the road...

But, Dear God, Why Me?

I reflect on my childhood
I was safe
I was loved
I was free to become
Whatever I dreamed of

No demons to chase me
No trauma to haunt me
No grave sins to cover
No shame to destroy me
Together we stand,
No matter the length of the road...

But, Dear God, Why Me?

When the victims came forward
Their stories intertwined
I carried their trauma
Their memories were mine

I experienced their pain
Panic attacks
Their fear of the MAN
As their memories played back
Together we stand,
No matter the length of the road...

But, Dear God, Why Me?

My warfare was for them
Their resilience was depleted
But because of my childhood
Inner strength was yielded

God, you needed a warrior
With empathy and love
A friend of the broken
Someone they could trust

I'd been there from the start
A witness to the domination
With understanding of the MAN
Who created the devastation
Together we stand,
No matter the length of the road...

But, Dear God, Why Me?

Any twist, any turn
I anticipate the motion
A pattern, never changing
HIS motive now proven

As I've risen out of fear
Not forgetting it's embrace
I step forward into HIS presence
And stare deep into HIS face

I counter HIM with truth
I confront HIM on his lies
I define HIS abhorrent actions
It is for the survivors that I cry

he no longer controls me
I am free, in Christ I'm free
Yet I will not walk away
The devastation has to cease

I know now God... Why me

You called me.
But you are carrying me.
You've got this.
